Despite partial cloud cover, I managed to get shots of the total eclipse on April 8, 2024 from Nevada, Texas. At the start of totality (Second Contact), the clouds parted enough to get a shot of Bailey’s Beads (sunlight streaming between mountains on the moon), but not the Diamond Effect just before that. Clouds covered the totality for about 3 of the 4 minutes, but I was able to get shots of the totality itself, and a shot just at the approach of the Third Contact, when the sun begins to show again. Red solar prominences are visible in all of the totality shots. Canon 100-400mm @400mm – f8, ISO 100 – various shutter speeds from 1/15-1/250 (7-shot bursts during totality). Solar filter for all partial totality shots, no filter for the totality (Second through Third Contacts). Canon 5D Mk4.
